The whole experience purchasing a new car at Huntington Beach Ford Dealership is like a nightmare to me and my wife. We just looked for an honest deal when we stepped in Huntington Beach Ford Dealership, but fell victim to their scam.

We were lied to and manipulated on our newly purchased SUV Ford Edge 2017. They are supposed to honor and accurately run our monthly installment based on the agreed amount on our trade-in car, the agreed interest rate, but they did not; not to mention they fraudulently added an extended warranty and protection package to the new purchased car without disclosing. That made our monthly installment a lot higher than it should be. Below is what exactly happened in details: On Sunday June 25th, 2017 โ€“ I came across the advertising on Orange County Register Newspapers with the big sales on the SUVs including incentives/discounts/cash rebates.

I drove my wife to the Huntington Beach Ford Dealership and we met with the salesman Mario Smith, did a test drive on the Ford Edge SUV and liked it. We told Mario if he could work out a good deal on an SUV like the ones advertised and we can do the trade-in with the current Ford Fusion Sport 2010 we were driving. We spent a long time negotiating, going back and forth regarding the number on our trade-in car, from low two thousand and up. I expressed if the trade- in value was so low we would walk out and would not make a deal at all.

After a while he offered us our car at $5,000.00. At the moment, our Ford Fusion Sport 2010 was valued according to Kelly Bluebook is ranging from around $3,000.00 - $5,000.00 and in some other car websites they are selling similar cars at the market price ranging from $6,000.00 - $8,000.00; it seemed to be a fair deal so we agreed with their offer of $5,000.00 for our trade-in value. We then went through with the salesman on the interest rate, down payment and discounts/incentives. We waited when Mario was going back and forth with his manager to run our numbers.

Mario came back and said our monthly payment is about $495.00 a month. We told him it would be too much for us that we canโ€™t make a deal. Again I told Mario that I have excellent credit score the dealership could give us a better interest rate at $3.5%. Then Mario said if we could do a bit more with the down payment, we agreed to put down $6,500.00 on our credit card for the down payment ($1,500.00 more, instead of $5,000.00) and if he could give us better interest rate at 3.5%.

Mario talked to his manager and said that we got a deal with 3.5% interest rate and our monthly payment came down to $365.00. In summary, we agreed on $5,000.00 on our trade-in Ford Fusion Sport, $6,500.00 down payment, 3.5% interest rate plus the incentives. We sat down finally around 5pm with the finance manager Max Babaie. We paid our down payment of $6,500.00 with credit card.

Max said that it was a long day for him and we said it was a long day for us too. Max told us just to sign and initial here and there, and we can be done quickly. Max engaged us with small talks about other things, did not go through with any numbers at all, and only pointed on where we should sign and initial. Believing the sale contract was correct, we signed and initialed just as he told us.

Later at night I opened the sale contract in order to take a picture so we can send it to our insurance agent on the next day. This time, my wife and I looked a bit closer to the contract and we were shocked to find out two mistakes on the contract: the interest rate is 4.49%, not 3.5% as we agreed and the trade-in value is only $500.00 (five hundred dollars), not $5,000.00 (five thousand dollars) as we agreed on the trade-in value. Later we found that they added an option service of $2,390.00 without disclosing to us. They must have run the numbers wrong so we planned to come early the next day to explain it to them.

On Monday June 26th, 2017 (next day morning) โ€“ We drove back to the Huntington Dealership early in the morning and tried to talk about these mistakes we found in the contract. My wife and I went over with the finance manager Max Babaie about the mistakes we found on the contract, especially the $500.00 trade-in made no sense โ€“ it must be the typo mistake! We explained to Max that we went back and forth with the salesman Mario a long time and agreed on $5,000.00, and Mario and his manager then ran the number for our monthly installment based on the agreed amount of the trade-in and then we agreed on the 3.5 interest rate at the end. We would have walked out of the deal very early on if the trade-in amount of $500.00 was offered!

I told Max that we would like to cancel it since the agreed amount was incorrect and they ran our number wrong and no one is here now to correct their mistakes. Max told us that he could call the Ford Credit about the interest rate but since I already signed the contract and it would not be very little money. He also said that he cannot cancel the contract since it was already sent overnight to Ford Credit and thereโ€™s nothing we can do about it. Max said he only did the finance part, not the one who handled our deal and ran our numbers so he did not know much; Mario and Tony (his manager/supervisor) was the team who took care of us yesterday.

He told us: if there is a mistake on the trade-in amount of the car we can talk to Mario and Tony; Tony is good and he can work it out with us; if we donโ€™t like the trade-in amount we can even buy back our trade-in car with the trade-in amount on the contract. Max told us not to worry and just come back on Wednesday and we can talk to Mario and Tony and they will work something out for us. On Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 โ€“ My wife and I came in the Huntington Beach dealership again. We met with our salesman Mario and his manager Tony to explain these mistakes again.

Tony told us that he was not the one who did the numbers on our purchase on Sunday! And he referred another higher manager named Alex who was the one we should be talking to because Alex helped Mario running our numbers and making the deal. My wife and I were so confused and frustrated because this is the second time we came back already and did not get to the right person in charge to talk to. Why canโ€™t they tell us on Monday then?

Again they told us to come back in two day on Friday to talk to manager Alex. Tony assured us that when we come back to the dealership on Friday around 2pm, everyone will be here, Tony, Mario and Alex. He said something like Alex is the manager who can make decision on our case. We did not have any choice but waited and come back on Friday.

On Friday, June 30th, 2017 โ€“ My wife and I came around 2pm as told. Waited a long time too until Alex came out and talk to us. Mario was not there as Tony told us. Again we had to explain in details again to Alex and Tony regarding the mistakes on our contract exactly like we explained with the finance manager Max on Monday and with the salesman Mario and the sales manager Tony on Wednesday.

Alex looked at the copy of contract we brought to show him where the mistakes are and he just basically said that we signed the contract and there was nothing wrong with the contract. Tony and Alex shut us down and said our trade in car is worth only $500.00 - we signed the contract and that is it. Alex and Tony basically told us since we signed the contract they canโ€™t do anything because we already signed it. They denied any wrong doing, and walked out on us.

Tony just disrespectfully told us, โ€œa piece of advice I can give you: read the contract before you sign.โ€ Since they did not want to do any at all to resolve the issues with us, we asked Tony if we want to buy back our trade-in car like the Finance manager Max Babaie told us on Monday, but he said they already sold our Ford on that very next Monday. Alex even told us that he was at the dealership on Monday and no one told him! They lied to us, plain and simple! The sale contract is not even valid since they told us lies and committed fraud as well!

We feel so betrayed by the Huntington Beach Ford. They run their business with disregard for ethics and put a bad reputation on the good name of Ford Motors and Ford products. They cheat us of our hard earned money! it is not the way customer should be treated.

My wife and I have been losing sleeps and in so much distress over this experience at Huntington Beach Ford Dealership.

I mailed my complaints (in writing) to Huntington Beach Ford Dealership asking for the following ( a copy of written complaint also sent to Ford Motor Company but they said they "cannot intercede in their day-to-day business practice):. 1/ Refund of $4,500.00 for the remaining of agreed amount that they offered us for our trade-in car 2/ Fixing our finance rate from $4.49% to 3.50% as agreed 3/ Refund of the optional service of $2,390.00 which was not disclosed to us at all I am writing here also with hope that potential buyer would be ware of these manipulating tactics and no one else would be fell in to victims of this type of practice and do not have to go through what my wife and I have gone through at Huntington Beach Ford Dealership.
